It has been an absolute pleasure to get to know the 2022 Room 15! We have had a magnificent and very busy start to the year. We have looked at the Tawhai School values and used these to make our Class treaty. (This year we have had to add in something about masks!) We have now all signed it and it is displayed on the wall.
We have played a few games outside, sometimes with Room 14 as well. We have enjoyed Sting ball and 4 corners. After we have played the games, we often unpack it and modify how the game is played to suit us better.
During maths we have started our daily 10 in our maths books and learnt a few new games – such as doubles, 1-12 elimination, place value chairs and we have also looked at the games on mathsframe.co.uk.
At literacy time we have looked at the story ‘Salt in his shoes’ by Michael Jordan and then some follow on activities based around perseverance, resilience, and growth mindset. We are also reading a book called ‘There’s a boy in the girls bathroom’ by Louis Sacher. We have looked at a few new vocabulary words from the book, such as timidly, modestly, frantically, and ferociously.
We have also completed our “all about me” backpacks. These are proudly displayed on our windows.
Here are a few photos.
