It was World Cup fever at Tawhai School as we ‘kicked off’ this afternoon with the first of our 3 tournaments, involving the Year 1 & 2 Students. The children were divided up into 16 teams and given the name of a country. There were 4 pools with 4 teams in it, so each team played the other 3 teams in their pool, with each game lasting 5 minutes. It was all about having fun, working together with teammates and practising football skills.
The winners of each pool were Senegal, Japan, France and Poland. Individual awards went to Eva, Amelia, Ashton and Shivam who were the teacher’s picks for either showing most improved, biggest effort or showing values.
Everyone had so much fun! A big THANK YOU to Mr McGarry for organising the tournament and to the teachers, Matt Poole, and students, Hunter, Ashton, Sam and Lukas for assisting with the matches.
