Last term Team Piwakawaka were learning about volunteering for the community. First we planned what we wanted to do and after a few days, we had chosen to do a performance for the elderly at Stokeswood Rest Home. Then everybody split into groups and brainstormed some different acts. A few weeks later, the groups were working hard and polishing their performances. Before we knew it the time had rolled around for the roadshow.
We had lots of dress rehearsals in the school hall. The show went really well. We had singing, dancing, a puppet show, jokes and a haka/sasa group. The audience really enjoyed themselves. When we had finished we made cups of tea for the elderly and were chatting with them. We thank Stokeswood rest home for coming to watch us perform. We hope there will be more shows to come!
