We have had a very engaged and interesting few weeks covering many different aspects of safety with our Tamariki. This week was definitely an exciting and memorable lesson as we had the local fire men come and visit us with all their equipment! The children initially were not told about the visit until 30 minutes prior, so you can imagine the excitement levels when they saw the truck and firemen parked up ready for us to explore.
The visit allowed the children to really think about safety when it comes to fire, and keeping themselves, others, and environments safe to prevent starting a fire. The children were engaged in great conversation’s with one another and it has sparked awesome questions for us leading into firewise week next week.
We would love to thank Trentham Fire station for coming and visiting us, and for all the hard work you do fighting fires to keep everyone safe- we all appreciated the time you spent helping the kids explore your equipment and ask questions. We would also like to send our condolences to Tui Glen Primary school, who experienced a fire in their grounds overnight during the week.
A few photos we managed to capture of our Tamariki exploring the fire truck.
