Here is a summary of just some of the things that have kept us busy in Room 7 this Term.
We had a special visitor who talked about identifying notes and coins and ways to keep our money safe. He was lots of fun!
We have learnt to recognise and name the different shapes that are around us. We know that shapes can have every day and special mathematical names. We became experts at drawing 3 Dimensional objects!
The travels of some sneaky pirates have taken us all around the world. We are sent clues to read and then have to find the places on our map where the pirates have been. We have learnt to find many countries on our globe too.
In Week 5 we had another special visitor and that lead to a mini study of “Bones”. We worked with a partner on the Science Box activities and found out lots of amazing things
Through songs and stories from the Pacific we designed our own Tapa cloth pattern.
These look beautiful.
During this second part of the term the focus for our learning has been around the principles of the Alert Programme. W.A.L.To recognise that our engines (minds and bodies) run at different speeds at different times. We are asking ourselves “Is my engine running “Just Right” for when I need to solve a problem or want to learn?” Now we are working on ways to modify our level so that it is “Just Right” for the time and place were we are at.
We are looking forward to having fun at the “Tawhai Cup” in Week 9. We have been working as a team on passing and catching skills and practise Rippa Rugby at P.E time.
We have enjoyed sharing with our Buddy Class Room 14 on Fridays too.
It has been another busy term!
