Friday is News day and last week we had some particularly interesting things shared.
W.A.L.To, as a Presenter – think carefully about the things we select to bring to school, asking ourselves, “why would it be interesting for other people to hear about this?” or, “does it relate to the things we are studying?”. Tell people interesting things about our object or experience. As a Listener, W.A.L.To – look at the person speaking, listen politely, then think of and ask relevant questions.
Lucas told us about competing with his family in the Muddy Muster Challenge – having to go through different obstacles and lots of mud! Leila explained about her Uncle’s cheese shop in Kaikoura and also brought in some special cheese for us to try. Kobe talked about the things he saw and did at the Lower Hutt Festival of Lights. Jethro showed us his new Fit bit and explained all the things it could do. He also brought a toy, but it was special as he had just got it for his birthday as well, and he was able to tell and show us lots about it. Cory showed his traditional stringed instrument from the Cook Islands made out of coconut. And we were very lucky to see Charlotte’s violin. We have been learning about Instruments of the Orchestra and it was wonderful to have a close up look at this member of the string family.
