Wow – what a journey it has been for all of us in New Zealand over these last 7 weeks! During this time, school life has taken us on a completely different journey than any of us could have ever imagined.
With all that has been happening in our country and in our community, the Board would like to acknowledge and give thanks for the incredible work that our Tawhai whānau have achieved by supporting our children with their learning at home. We know that it hasn’t always been an easy process, but one that has been a learning experience for us all. Watching the video that was created by staff for Mother’s Day, was a wonderful reflection of this support and it was truly heart-warming to see. A big thank you also to our tamariki for being so brave and resilient along this strange journey.
Our school has been extremely lucky to have Karen Poole as our Principal and beacon of light through this journey. Karen has given so much of her time and energy to ensuring that our students have been provided for and supported in the best possible way in the conditions presented to us. Along with Karen, we have had all of our amazing staff members working as hard as they possibly can to support our tamariki while still dealing with the support and care needed in their own bubbles.
The Board is extremely grateful to Karen, all teachers, and support staff for their care and effort during this time. Special thanks to the staff who have been attending school during Level 3 and to the support staff who have been working hard to ensure that extra cleaning and safety measures have been in place to protect all who have been present at school.
Here’s looking forward to school being open for all at Level 2 and the enjoyment we will all feel seeing familiar, friendly faces again.
