‘Porridge’ Production Update

1st August 2024

It is hard to believe we are into week 2 of the term already! We are now well underway with our production rehearsals and I am so impressed with the cast’s enthusiasm and the hard work being put into learning the lines and songs. Thank you for assisting and encouraging your child/ren to be part of this show. There is a lot of hard work involved but I know that they will all be so proud of themselves, as will you, when they perform on stage at the end of term.

The plan is for the whole of the Ngāhere hub to be involved in the production and so all students will learn the songs and dance moves to accompany them. There will also be an opportunity for some students to possibly help out with creating tickets, programmes and posters closer to the time.

The production shows will take place in week 10 (September 23-26) of this term and there will be 2 evenings (Tuesday and Wednesday) and 1 matinee (Wednesday) performance. More details will follow later in the term.

There are a few jobs that need to be done leading up to the production in regards to prop making, gathering of costumes and various other props, as well as scenery painting. If you think you may be able to help out with any of these jobs please email:

Julia Dorgan julia@tawhai.school.nz for props and scenery information or

Anna Sissons anna@tawhai.school.nz for costumes or

Janette Page janette@tawhai.school.nz for any other general information

There will be updates throughout the term, so keep looking out for further information.

Regards
