Kia ora e te whānau,
Today Tawhai Kura acknowledged our wonderful parent helpers by holding a mini concert under the whakaruruhau and morning tea.
Two of our amazing Tu Rangatira, Taylor and Archie were the co-presenters for this special event! Taylor after saying her personal mihi, thanked the parents for all the fantastic things they do for the kura, such as being part of the whānau Reading Programme, or the Enviro Group, undertake school trips, transport the tamariki to and from events, coach and manage sports teams, supervise the road patrollers. The PTSG were also acknowledged for their hard mahi.
Archie introduced the kapa haka group who (assisted by the rest of the kura) sang E tu Tawhai, Aotearoa Christmas, and Rangi Ko Papa.
Tumuaki, Mrs Poole in her speech, warmly thanked the parent helpers, acknowledging that their mahi and support means the world to the Kura and how fortunate they are to have such a dedicated band of parents! The success of the kura isn’t just measured by it’s academic achievements but also by the strength of the community and how willing they are to help, support, and actively contribute to the school community. This collaboration between the whānau and the kura is what makes Tawhai a special place.
Mrs Boese was acknowledged for organising this special event. Paul & Sally Armitage were thanked too for their work in the garden!
On conclusion Mrs Poole invited the parents to come into the staffroom for morning tea. Taylor and Archie said a karakia before everyone sat down to enjoy some kai, a cuppa, and a natter!
