MND Bake Sale a Mouthwatering Sellout!

7th September 2024

Kia ora e te whānau,

It wasn’t just a sea of blue as our tamariki dressed up for ‘Blue Day’ but an ocean of cakes, slices, and biscuits as our very generous Tawhai community rolled in with their donations first thing in the morning!

There were so many beautifully decorated items and such a variety too that a lot of the ākonga had difficulty choosing, when class by class, they were first invited to walk around the staffroom to purchase just one thing to enjoy straight away if they wished! The resident kaiwhakaahua was especially taken with the mini ‘cookie monster’ cupcake!

The stall came out again nearer lunchtime when the tamariki could now choose more than one item. It was so heartwarming to see some of the tamariki when purchasing baking, also generously donating some of their coins to such a worthy cause!

The stall came out again at home time and by 3.15pm everything had been sold!

A BIG thank you firstly to Shelley Dalton for organising the bake sale and for the invaluable help from Lynley Poole throughout the day!

Thank you to the Tu Rangatira who were either the ‘shopkeepers’ or runners!

Lastly the MOST MASSIVE thank you to the Tawhai whānau for your very generous donations to make the MND bake sale a hugely successful sellout!

Here are a few photo captures of our gorgeous tamariki enjoying the baking, most of them dressed in blue! Photos posted with kind permission from whānau.

Thank you to Kate Watkins for sharing your two gorgeous photos which are at the beginning!
