Kia ora e te whānau
Our wonderful Tawhai Kura gathered under the whareruruhau (canopy) this morning for the first Mihi Whakatau for 2023.
The manuhiri (new students and staff, Kaiako Annelise Auker and Nicola Simons, And Learning Support Coordinator Shelley Dalton) were guided in by Year 6 ākonga, Aysha & Kora.
Mr Whiteman gave a whaikōrero on behalf of the tengata whenua and Mr McGarry spoke on behalf of the manuhuri..
On conclusion of the mihi Whakatau, instead of a hongi and a handshake, it was the ‘bumping of elbows’!
Principal Mrs Poole gave a very warm welcome to our new Tawhai whanau & Kaiako.
After hearing the kura waiata the manuhuri were then invited to share some kai and coffee in the staffroom.
