On Monday Tawhai School sent 2 teams of 6 students to the annual Mathswell competition. This year it was held at Victoria University and around 58 teams from around Wellington entered. The competition consisted of 4 rounds of tricky multi choice and problem solving questions to be completed within a short timeframe.
After the first 2 rounds, the groups are split into the cup competition (Top 30) and the Plate competition (the remainder). Both Tawhai teams made it into the Cup competition, which was pretty exciting! By the end of the day Tawhai came in a very respectable 16th and 30th place! A big thank you to all the parent transport help and those who came to support. It was a great opportunity for our students to showcase their maths skills.
