Kia ora e te whānau,
What a glorious day for the whole Tawhai community to hold the Matariki celebrations and breakfast!
It was a very early start to the day as the whānau arrived in their droves, their tamariki eager to pick up their lanterns, join their friends on the court and watch the roaring braziers! After the karakia was said in front the fires, everyone moved to the classrooms to enjoy much welcomed kai, either cereal or toast and to the staffroom for the drinks where some of our football aficionados were avidly following the European Cup games!
For the rotational activities the ākonga were mixed and matched into groups. There was a lot of amazing creativity buzzing around the rooms and some biscuit decorating! We also had outdoor activities too!
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day!
Thank you to everyone for coming! It was an awesome turnout! Thank you to the Staff for all the hard work involved setting up and of course a HUGE thank you to Dave Whiteman for your tireless effort in organizing this splendid day.
Thank you to John & Rochelle Cole for donating and serving the Mojo coffee!
Thanks to the dads on the braziers!
A paki paki to the Upper Hutt/Heretaunga first xv boys for setting up the firepits and serving breakfasts.
Thank you to Jaydy and Rochelle who ran the activities and all the parent helpers too!
Some of the photos posted are with kind permission from whānau!
Happy Matariki to all our Tawhai whānau!
