Kia ora e te whānau,
Yesterday) our wonderful Kapa Haka Group had a marvellous opportunity to perform again at the annual Upper Hutt Cultural Festival, (last year being their first time!)
Heidi (wearing the beautiful puāwai, our kākahu taonga donated by Jaydy Marsh) and Caden were the Tu Rangatira chosen to represent Tawhai Kura at the Powhiri, then our ākonga waited patiently in their allocated spot before being called up to the stage midmorning.
The group performed beautifully, and their voices could be heard so clearly by the very large audience They did themselves, their whānau, and their kura proud! It was wonderful that the sun started shining as they performed!
Everyone was so happy to see Mr Whiteman at the Festival and he had such a beaming smile on his face watching the Group perform.
It was also a fantastic opportunity for our Tamariki to see the other kura perform, from Primary right through to college level.
Some lovely moments as the Tamariki also reconnected with past Tawhai ākonga who were also performing with their Intermediate.
Thank you to Matua Mike who has been able to come along to Tawhai during some of the Kapa Haka practices to give the tamariki some extra pointers.
A BIG thank you to the parent helpers and Kaiako who helped get the girls ready first thing this morning and those who came along to the festival.
Lastly a HUGE thank you to Miss Page for all your hard mahi, effort, and time spent organising and preparing the group. The Tamariki thoroughly enjoyed this amazing experience!
Thank you to Mrs Poole and Shelley Dalton for coming along to support the group!

Mrs Poole also managed to video the performance in its entirety. THANK YOU Mrs Poole!
