Kia ora e te whānau,
On Thursday it was the turn of the Kopara Hub to enjoy the thrills and action of the popular Tawhai Cup Tournament.
As with the previous 2 tournaments, the tamariki went through a series of 5-minute round robin games during the middle block, followed by the knockout round also lasting 5 minutes with all 4 trophies up for grabs! Lots of goals and some wonderful skills seen across all the teams! The tamariki showed all their Tawhai values too!
After lunch it was the grand final between New Zealand and Germany out on the turf with New Zealand winning 3-1 and taking out the Tawhai Cup!
At prize giving all 4 trophies were presented to the winning team!
There were also values awards of either mini footballs or drinks bottles for 2 ākonga chosen by their kaiako who really stood out in showing their Tawhai values!
Well done to all who took part in the tournament!
Thank you to kaiako; Mrs Dorgan, Mrs Treadwell, Mrs Lynley Poole, Mrs Harris, and of course Mr Mcgarry who officiated the games.
A BIG thank you to the older Students (there were a mixture of Ngahere and Kereru Hub children too numerous to mention!) who reffed the games, supported the players, and kept the ball in play so that the games ran smoothly.
Lastly, as always, this very popular tournament really could not take place without the wonderful Mr McGarry who will have spent countless hours planning and organising it so that the whole school can enjoy it! A MASSIVE thank you, Mr McGarry!
