Kia ora e te whānau,
It was an exciting morning for our most senior Year 6 ākonga when they visited Avalon Intermediate today. It was an opportunity to experience just a little of what Intermediate life has to offer.
On arrival at Avalon they were taken into the hall where they were warmly welcomed by Tumuaki Ariana Te Whetu and the Avalon kaiārahi (lovely to see some ex Tawhai ākonga amongst them!)
They were divided into 4 groups with each student given the opportunity to spend some time working in two areas of the 6 technology sessions on offer; Wood, multi-crafts, fabric, art, food, and science.
Everyone had so much fun and came away with some wonderful creations. Some of those who got to make the savoury toasties couldn’t wait to eat them!
After lunch, our Year 6 ākonga enjoyed some playtime with the Avalon Students.
It was lovely to reconnect with all the lovely ex Tawhai ākonga who are now Year 7 and 8 Students!
On gathering in the hall after lunch, some of the Avalon kaiārahi were invited by tumuaki Ariana Te Whetu to share some of their experiences of Intermediate life with the Year 6 Students.
A HUGE thank you to the wonderful staff at Avalon Intermediate for a lovely day!
