Kia ora e te whānau,
This morning as the weather wasn’t in our favour, the Mihi Whakatau took place in the hall with just our most senior ākonga present to welcome our newest ākonga to the kura.
Mr McGarry gave a whaikōrero on behalf of the tengata whenua and Mr Syph spoke on behalf of the manuhuri.
Our senior accompanied by Miss Page on the guitar sang so beautifully for the manuhuri.
On conclusion of the mihi Whakatau, instead of a hongi and a handshake, it was the ‘bumping of elbows’!
Tumuaki Mrs Poole gave a very warm welcome to our new Tawhai Kura ākonga.
