It was so nice to be back in the folds of the Artsplash Festival this year after a few years out of the loop.
Throughout Term 2 and 3, a wonderful group of about 40 tamariki gathered together each week to rehearse and learn the variety of songs on offer this year. We had songs from the show ‘Wicked’ through to Six60’s ‘Don’t forget your Roots’ and Bruno Mars’ Count on Me’ which included the sign language. Poi E also made a comeback and everyone had fun learning and mastering the poi actions.
One of the best things about the choir this year was the amount of boys that chose to come along. I was very impressed with the commitment and enthusiasm levels. Overall the talent within the group was fantastic to see and listen to of course; some beautiful voices for future productions!!
The evening concert was a huge success and the Tawhai ākonga displayed our values as usual and I was very proud of their efforts.
I want to thank each one for turning up to all the rehearsals, learning their lines and actions to the songs, and displaying an enthusiasm for the Performing Arts.
I would also like to thank Shelley, our LSC, for helping me out and supporting our ākonga and of course a big thank you to our whānau for encouraging their tamariki to participate and bringing them to the concert. I hope you all enjoyed the experience and were proud of your child’s efforts.
I look forward to the next one!!
