Nga Manu Assembly

[loop-news.php]

September 13 2017

Adam & Hamish were our co presenters for an action packed assembly this afternoon. Lots of certificates and awards and some wonderful sharing of artwork and writing from all the classes in the syndicate.
We were very fortunate to have a special guest, Dan who is the Store Manager for New World Stokes Valley. He was at the Nga Manu assembly to present us with a gift of Leafcutter bees
( cocoons), a leafcutter house & a bumble bee abode so that we at Tawhai School can do our bit to encourage more pollinators.
As a nation, the decline in our bee populations presents itself as a very real issue and a threat to the future pollination of our gardens and food supplies. These declines have been caused largely by changing agricultural practices and urban encroachment on the countryside, and now more than ever, there is a need to look to alternative bee species. Dan is looking forward to receiving photos from us when the leafcutter bee house has been installed and the bees begin their job of pollinating.

Ezra & Coco were the lucky names drawn out for gold card awards and Room 15 were the class of the assembly!
